I spent Boxing Day racing a friend’s BMW in an event on an airfield. Much better than a typical Monday, I have to say.
It was the first time I’ve driven this particular car, and, despite making a couple of mistakes in each of my runs (including inadvertently taking off the gear knob while trying to downshift on my last run), I did quite well, finishing second in the RWD studless class and winning the RWD studded class. Obviously, since there was no ice or snow, everyone used the same, studless, tires for both of these classes.
As an added bonus, Road & Track actually posted a brief summary of this particular event on their website, including a short video! I am not part of the video as it focuses on mistakes, spins, and the white E28 with a V8 owned by a friend of mine. It did not do very well this time due to having asphalt suspension and bald tires, but was still great fun to look at.

This weekend doesn’t have any racing events, for obvious reasons, but I’m looking to get back in my own car for next weekend’s race in Biernieki circuit, which hosted World RX of Latvia (we won’t be racing on the rallycross configuration, sadly).
